Is it possible for Obama to be President of Australia and change it at the same time as the USA?

obama has bigger fish to fry than internet censorship (like earning the trust and support of many foreign leaders, planning on fixing you know what when he takes office in january)

anyway, sorry you guys are losing the free porn.

The total censorship of everything, that is one thing....but the fact that it'll ruin internet speed.

noty.

I'm not going to be Mighty Monking for you when your ping to the GW servers doubles or triples due to the way they filter your Internet. D:

Thought this deserved a bump.

Updates

http://www.techradar.com/news/intern...warning-585894

http://www.itnews.com.au/News/98964,...regulator.aspx

http://www.itnews.com.au/News/99066,...ored-link.aspx

It is not just pron that will be censored. Anti-abortion website was added to blacklist (whether you agree with abortion or not is irrelevent). Any Australian site who links to the website will be fined $11,000 per day the link is up.

So people added the link to the Wikipedia page of ACMA (the Australian censorship board).

In theory that means ACMA would have to censor their own page on wikipedia.

Bunch of idiots tried to remove link from wikipedia. Was edit war. Protected currently with link at bottom of page.

Plenty of moar interesting information and news articles.

Today alone sees ~20 news articles related to the plan.

They also plan to censor wikileaks. Australia will join China as countries who censor wikileaks.

it can't be any worse then

"The six were charged under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 with 'improper use of network facilities or service for making comments, requests, suggestions or other communications which are obscene, indecent, false, menacing or offensive in character'.

'They are not bloggers, but ordinary people who posted comments on the Perak Royal Web site using nasty and obscene words,' Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail was quoted by the New Straits Times as saying."

They're going to refer the case to the Federal Police, even though the list 'is fake'? Sorry chums, but that doesn't add up. Did any body else notice that a certain anonymous whistleblower website is inaccessible all of a sudden? Thats a lot of drastic action for a "fake list".

Just get a hard drive with a huge amount of space, and download 1TB of porn before the moment where you're not allowed it!

Oh yeah, and if it's not just porn, go on ThePirateBay or Warez-BB or whatever and download everything you need before the cencorshipness!

Kevin Rudd and some of members of his party are socially conservative. Big surprise there, that people like him have no idea about the advances of the technology and the freedom of the internet which it offers.

I just hope that labor gets out of office next election but many people will still vote labor because they can't see anything past their own nose.
